Duplicating White Metals (Non-Shrink)
|
These metal alloys are comprised of bismuth, lead, tin, and cadmium, resulting in a no-shrink, very accurate duplicating metal with very low temperature melting points. Approximate weight of each ingot is two to three pounds. This material is sold by the pound.
“158” has a melting point of 158°F. Used primarily for filling pipes or tubes prior to bending to avoid kinks, however, is also preferred by some for fixture work.
“160–190” has a melting point of 160-190°F. and is the most popular of the non-shrink metals for average pattern work.
“255” has a melting point of 255°F. and is preferred by some for their duplicating work.
